3D Scanning

Faro 3D X330 Scanner

ARA’s surveying techniques include the use of a Faro 3D X330 scanner.  The Faro is capable of capturing “point cloud” data to record the three-dimensional relationships of visible evidence associated with the components within the analysis.

The surveying technique allows ARA’s engineers to memorialize and preserve the evidence in its current condition.  ARA can then use the data to extract dimensions, lines of sight, tolerances, failure points and various other factors during the analysis phase of the investigation.

The technology is also capable of producing snapshots of the point cloud as well as performing a fly through of the scanned area.  Other capabilities include producing topographic contours and visualizations from the scanned area.
